Material first
Domestic hardwoods, exotic woods, select softwoods, and complementary metals are chosen for strength, character, stability, and the way they will age.
Custom furniture · Crafted with integrity
Each piece is unique—substantial tables, purposeful furniture, and singular designs shaped from domestic hardwoods, exotic woods, select softwoods, and metals chosen for the demands of the build.
Our standard
We build for real homes, real gatherings, and decades of use. Each piece is engineered around the wood, the room, and the people who will put it to work.
Domestic hardwoods, exotic woods, select softwoods, and complementary metals are chosen for strength, character, stability, and the way they will age.
Mortises, tenons, drawbored joints, mechanical reinforcement, and piece-appropriate metalwork are used where they belong. The construction is part of the design.
Hand-rubbed finishes bring out the grain and remain serviceable. These pieces are meant to be used, maintained, and handed down.
Signature work
From room-defining tables to daily-use serving pieces, every build carries the same priorities: sound structure, useful proportions, and unmistakable material.
Three-inch top, 3×6 timber legs, steel outer band, and keyed joinery.
Black walnut and white oak surrounding blue water, carried on mast-inspired legs.
Solid white oak, practical proportions, and a hand-rubbed polymerized tung-oil finish.
A substantial waterfall form with integrated storage and room to do serious work.
About us · The person behind the pieces
I believe good furniture should be built to serve a life, not just decorate a room.
I'm Jake, the craftsman behind Old Oak & Anvil Works, LLC. For me, a piece of furniture has to make sense from the inside out. The joinery should be sound, the proportions should be right, and the materials should be allowed to show their own character.
I work with domestic hardwoods, exotic woods, select softwoods, and, when a design calls for it, steel or other complementary metals. Whether it is a substantial dining table, a carefully finished serving board, or a one-of-a-kind commission, I want it to be something you'll use with confidence and be glad to pass along.
My approach is old-fashioned in the ways that count: take pride in the work, tell people plainly what they're buying, and price it fairly. Each piece is unique because the grain, the purpose, and the person commissioning it are unique.
The commission process
A good custom piece begins with the room, how it will be used, and what it must endure. The design grows from there—proportion first, detail second.
Purpose, dimensions, material preferences, site access, and the details that matter to you.
A clear concept, construction plan, finish direction, and straightforward project price.
Careful milling, joinery, assembly, and finishing—with progress documented along the way.
Final inspection, safe delivery planning, and guidance for decades of care.
Purchases & commissions
Pre-made pieces carry a set price and are paid in full at checkout. Commissioned work follows the accepted quote and a milestone schedule tied directly to the progress of the build.
The initial 50% down payment is required and non-negotiable. The remaining balance is paid as the piece advances through fabrication, finishing, and delivery.
